Have you lost data from your SSD, is the file system damaged, or is the SSD no longer recognised?
Get in touch with us. We specialise in professional data recovery from SSDs and NAND flash storage and use dedicated hardware and software tools together with many years of experience.
Recovering data from solid state drives
Hardware faults, logical damage, accidental deletion, formatting or user errors can all lead to data loss on an SSD. With specialised methods and tools our engineers can recover lost data in most cases. If you have no experience in this field, we advise against trying to recover the data yourself: SSDs are complex, and wrong handling can destroy the data permanently.
Data recovery process
Be vigilant and do not attempt to salvage the data on the device yourself. This can make recovery impossible.
How SSD data recovery works
Depending on the problem (logical or physical), our specialists choose the right method, for example:
- Initialising the SSD so that the memory content can be accessed even if the controller is faulty or damaged.
- Working around errors in the SSD’s service firmware.
- Reading the memory at a low level and rebuilding the file system from the raw data with specialised software. If the directory structure cannot be rebuilt, a deep scan of the metadata helps to recover partitions, folders and file names.
In difficult cases, when none of these methods gives access, the memory chips of a defective SSD are read individually and the raw data is then decoded with special tools. Because of complex controller algorithms and large capacities, this is demanding work that is only done by specialists with dedicated equipment.
Data recovery from storage media from all manufacturers
All orders are processed exclusively in our Berlin laboratory. The data recovery from mechanically defective hard drives takes place within a dust-free environment of our clean room workbench of clean room class 100.
Frequently asked questions about SSD data recovery
If the SSD is not encrypted, recovery is generally possible. The data is spread across all memory chips, so all chips have to be read during recovery.
We can recover data from all common SSDs. Each SSD has a controller that distributes the data across the memory chips, and every manufacturer uses its own firmware and parameters – which is why experience with many models matters.
SSD recovery requires specialised technology and experience. How difficult it is depends mainly on the controller and the number of memory chips.
The diagnosis is free of charge. A standard recovery costs 357–535.50 euros, a special recovery (for example mechanical damage that needs spare parts) 476–897 euros plus any spare parts. If no data can be recovered, you pay nothing for the recovery. Details: Prices. For SSDs from an array, the price is calculated per SSD.
Often partially. If the file tables are completely destroyed, recovery is done by searching for individual file headers; photos, PDFs and text documents can often be saved this way.
